My computational work focuses on understanding the transcriptomic changes that occur in astrocytes in health and disease. Through my exploration of this topic, I have become interested in three broad categories:

  1. Batch Integration - Correcting the technical nuisance that arises from independent generation of sc/snRNA-seq datasets from different studies
  2. Functional Annotation - Using existing literature in combination with differentially expressed gene signatures from single cell datasets to better understand astrocyte heterogeneity and functional consequences
  3. GPU Accelerated Workflows - Speeding up single cell analyses given the increase in the size of sc/snRNA-seq datasets

I also work on robots for cranial window surgeries, in vivo imaging to understand how astrocytes respond to brain cancer, and primary cultures to discern specific cellular and molecular contributions during glioma's co-option of astrocytes.

Enjoying the challenge of trying to make all these things to coalesce :)
