[LFX Mentorship T-1 2026] Community Building, Technical Content, and Social Media Growth

Overview

This issue tracks the LFX Mentorship project for Term 1 2026, focused on community growth, technical content creation, and documentation improvements for PipeCD.

Background

PipeCD v1 introduced a plugin-based architecture enabling deployments on any platform. While the technical capabilities have evolved significantly, community awareness and adoption need to catch up. This project aims to bridge that gap.

Project Goals

Community Growth

• Establish PipeCD's presence across developer platforms
• Build engagement through GitHub Discussions and other channels
• Create a feedback loop between community and maintainers
• Regular posts and video content on social media platforms

Technical Content

• Blog posts and tutorials covering v1 features and plugin development
• Real-world deployment patterns and use cases
• Demo content (video walkthroughs, livestreams) that makes the project easier to adopt

Documentation

• Improve contributor documentation and onboarding materials
• Update and expand user-facing documentation
• Create migration guides and getting started content for v1

Expected Outcomes

Established social media presence for PipeCD across key developer platforms, with technical content covering v1 features, plugin development, and real-world deployment patterns. Demo content (video walkthroughs, livestreams) that makes the project easier to adopt, alongside improved contributor documentation and onboarding materials. Active community engagement through GitHub Discussions and other channels, and at least one CNCF talk or meetup presentation accepted.

Ideal Mentee

While this project focus a little lesser on technical aspects, we're looking for mentees with:

• Strong technical background
• Understanding of CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Technical writing ability
• Comfort with content creation (written and video)
• Familiarity with open source workflows

PipeCD v1’s plugin-based architecture is a strong technical foundation, and I’d like to help improve awareness and adoption through focused documentation updates, developer-oriented content, and community engagement. I’m comfortable with CI/CD and DevOps workflows, open-source collaboration, and technical writing, and I’m interested in contributing to blogs, demos, and onboarding material for v1.
