User_LDAP: make connection non-private for app developers

Currently, the User_ldap app maintains a private LDAP connection. Would it be possible to add a list of allowed apps that can join the connection through admin settings?

This would allow app developers to add features to the LDAP integration.

Hello @henrysheehy , can you be clearer on what is missing?
You can already use Dependency injection to get a ILDAPProvider, and then call getLDAPConnection on it to get the connection resource related to a user id.

Hum what do you mean by admin? The connection returned is binded with the LDAP user Nextcloud is using. The user id that you pass to it is only used to find out which LDAP server you want to bind to, because different users may be from different LDAP servers if several are configured.

I see, thank you. I had another use case in mind: search groups throughout the LDAP server, or searching for users by specific attributes.
