I think replacing https://npmx.dev/package/wellknown with https://npmx.dev/package/betterknown is a good recommendation.

Both packages are fairly stable in what they do but wellknown is was not updated in 10 year and betterknown is a modern and maintained rewrite that has be present for a few years now.

I guess we can do this but I would also suggest the maintainer, (since it looks like both are maintained by the same author) to deprecate the old package, if possible

I don't think this is possible given that Mapbox change their OpenSource Policy back in the day and they have a ton of packages and repos that are either just archived or in limbo for years.

From what I read in the readme of https://npmx.dev/package/betterknown the guy doesn't work in mapbox anymore, still I would raise an issue in https://github.com/mapbox/wellknown/issues in the hope that they update the readme / deprecate the dependency.

But this replacement makes sense to me, even more when its the same author
