Suggestion: 16-Bit target

It is me the OS Development Guy. I wanted to ask if there could be a 16-Bit target implemented, so you can make MS-DOS apps for example (or raw OSDev but that would require outside assembly)

EDIT: I am not too familiar with the history of 🅱️ but i personally think that there was an compiler that well compiled B into 16-Bit assembly

Sure, it's possible: the original machine back in a day B was developed for was 16 bit, and we have the uxn target which is also a 16 bit machine. And the 6502 target simulates a 16 bit machine on top of an 8 bit CPU.

Adding a new target is not hard. But we are weary about adding new targets , because each new target increases the friction of the compiler development. You can try making a target yourself, although currently it likely won't be accepted as a PR (but it can live in your fork).

There's #62, maybe eventually there will be a mechanism for keeping targets outside the repo.
